TikTok is a video sharing platform, where users can share 15-second videos of anything. Trends come and go on TikTok, however, the one that has stayed is “TikTok made me buy it” where people buys products out of boredom.

The app started as musical.ly but was taken over by a Chinese company called ByteDance in 2018 and all users were transferred to TikTok.TikTok has became incredibly famous especially this year because of the global pandemic, many people were stuck in their home and decided to make videos.
In October 2018, TikTok was the most downloaded photo and video app on the Apple store across the world. The app has been downloaded over 80 million times in the USA alone. TikTok has a feed full of cute animals, life hacks, catchy dance routines and products that viewers must try.
TikTok is extremely popular not only because it is amusing, but because celebrities have had such a big impact on the app. Jimmy Fallon started using TikTok out of entertainment for himself bu later the app paid him to endorse the app. Celebrities like Jason Derulo, Iggy Azalea and Tyga have a major following on the app. They have collaborated with YouTubers and fans in an attempt to keep many viewers entertained as well as grow their following.
There is now a viral trend called “TikTok made me buy it” where loads of people find unnecessary products or in fact, very necessary products on amazon or TikTok and post videos about how much other viewers need them. Some products are very inventive and innovative and are very popular amongst the younger generation.
Many TikTok must haves are aesthetically pleasing along with design friendly. Celebrities on TikTok have been promoting some new products like Jason Derulo who promoted a phone brand, and did a great edited video showing the different colours of the phones whilst changing his t-shirt to match the colours.
